Overload Sensor

A sensor that prevents the elevator from operating if the cabin's load exceeds its capacity.

Door Interlock

A safety mechanism that ensures the elevator does not move unless the doors are properly closed.

Soft Start / Soft Stop

Technology for smooth acceleration and deceleration, improving ride comfort.

Emergency Alarm

A button or system inside the cabin to alert help in case of an emergency.

Single-Phase Power Supply

Electrical power supply using a single-phase connection, typical for residential installations.

Battery Backup

Backup power (usually via battery) that supports emergency lowering or operation during power failure.

E. Installation & Structural Terms

Glass Cabin

Elevator cabin walls made of glass (or transparent material) for aesthetics and visibility.

Metallic Shaft

A prefabricated shaft made of metal components used in place of a masonry shaft.

Masonry Shaft

A traditional elevator shaft constructed with bricks, concrete or masonry.

Grease-Less Rails

Guide rails that do not require regular greasing, reducing maintenance and noise.

Headroom

The clearance required above the top landing to safely accommodate the elevator's mechanical components.

Civil Work

Building-related construction work (like pit excavation or shaft construction) required before installation.

Retrofit Installation

Installing a lift in an existing building without very deep structural modifications.

Installation Time

The period taken to install a home elevator; Elite claims 2–3 weeks for many models.

Travel Stops

Floors or landings that the elevator is configured to service.

Modular Shaft

Pre-fabricated metallic shaft sections that are assembled on-site.
